NPUC 2006: mostly acoustic afternoon with ONIONS, TIGER MCs, DEPO, THE REBECCAS, LUCKY JIM, and KATNKOWALA @ norwich arts centre (free)

Onions

Having had an itinerant childhood, based for the most part in Hong Kong, the man known as Onions has travelled a strange, turbulent and meandering path, taking in rock, electro, industrial, punk, blues, psych and folk, embracing the rave, free festival and busking scenes. He has had hit singles in Spain, worked as a private eye by day and a hotel manager by night, eventually taking three years off to disappear into the colourful world of goat-herding on Gozo, mystery trails and discovery of the outer limits. This brings us neatly to his present day explorations in past present and future musics. His debut solo album will be available this summer.

Tiger MCs

Pretend hip-hop with big cats. Tiger MCs is always looking for shows to play and for nice little labels to release songs.

JB is also the driving force behind Norwich promotional outfit Metal Queen Projects and NPUC - he would have given himself this gig even if it wasn't him, if that makes any sense.

Depo

Formed in 2001 as Depoprovera and based in Norwich, the band have played live extensively. In 2005, Depo began recording their debut album, f199, with Owen Turner (Magoo) at The Sickroom Studios.

The Rebeccas

Info soon

Lucky Jim

Lucky Jim (aka James Boyce) likes wobbly tape players, old cars, being sad, jumpers, shoes, hip-hop, photocopying, vintage effects pedals, computer games and Cherry Styles. He sing songs about love into tape recorders, in the vain hope that someone might like them. Can often be found where American poetry meets English literature.

Katnkowala

Charlene (Kensuke Kimachi, PostaLowa, Luma Lane) on her own and lonely recording tracks. After leaving the leafy suburbs of St Albans for the bright lights of Norwich. You can also hear her on the gLASSsHRIMP radio show on Resonance 104.4FM London (London's only independent station for music! www.gLASSsHRIMP.blogspot.com), providing ear candy for all things exciting and good.
