HERMAN DUNE / KIMYA DAWSON / TARZAN STRIPES / KID ATOM / RORY McVICAR @ the ferry boat

We're starting our 2004 in style with a double-headlining show at the Ferry Boat tonight (King Street, Norwich; Wednesday January 21).

HERMAN DUNE are brothers David-Ivar and Andre (guitars, vocals) and Neman (drums) all sharing the surname that gives the band its name. They started making music a decade ago and have since written over 400 hundred songs and recorded four albums. They're big fans of Sebadoh, Pavement and Will Oldham, which is reflected in their music. (Maybe we can get them to play all 400+ songs tonight, really really fast)

KIMYA DAWSON is best known as co-founder of New York "anti-folk" outfit The Moldy Peaches. Last year she released her solo debut album 'I'm Sorry That Sometimes I'm Mean', an acclaimed collection of acoustic songs of pain and longing. Two more albums from her bedroom sessions will follow.

ps pop news: SHAUN RYDER was at Po Na Na last night and our office staff got him to sign the back of a flyer for tonight's show - it looks like "She Rhe". He seemed in pretty good shape by his standards and managed to sing some of 'Step On', as well as going blarahblarah for 20 minutes earlier in the evening.
